Background

RAIN - A Survivor's Tale is a piece of literary fiction, written by Sriram Subramanian and published by Readomania. The book was released last year and has received wonderful reviews since then. Some of the reviews can be seen on the Amazon page of the book.

The Blurb: Architect Jai Dubey trusts in reason - not for him the faith and prayer so firmly ingrained in his fellow countrymen. When fortune deserts Jai and his carefully ordered life spins inexorably out of control, Jai stands on the brink of ruin. Only a delayed monsoon can save Jai’s biggest project from disaster, but there are millions across the land praying for the exact opposite.
Reason seems to have its limits - the weather defies all prediction, let alone control. Will Jai relinquish the beliefs of a lifetime? Will he reconcile with the awful ambiguity about his past? Will he be able to save his crumbling marriage?

About the Author: Sriram Subramanian is an Engineer from IIT Roorkee and an MBA from IIM Calcutta. After a decade working in management consulting and corporate organisations, Sriram founded Mind Matters in 2006, which is today one of India’s leading corporate training firms.  Sriram is married to Shilpa Gupta, his classmate from IIT Roorkee, also an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, ex-investment banker and the author of two novels: ‘Ananya: A Bittersweet Journey’ and ‘Double or Quits’. Their sons, Aditya and Ritwik were National and State Ranked tennis players respectively. Sriram lives in Pune.

The Background

Developmental disability is a diverse group of chronic conditions that are due to mental or physical impairments. Developmental disabilities cause individuals living with them many difficulties in certain areas of life, especially in "language, mobility, learning, self-help, and independent living.

This sector has suffered the humiliation of being overlooked for centuries. Individuals who have been diagnosed with Developmental disabilities have been denied their cultural, educational, political as well as social rights. NGOs associated with the cause have for a very long time worked tirelessly to spread the word. However, it has been observed that many from the non-disability sector find it hard to comprehend or even relate to the isolation that the individuals with disabilities and their families face every day as the concept of Developmental disability simply does not touch a large percentage of the lives of our populace. But not any longer. The Inclusive India Initiative - National Trust launched a national campaign on the 6th of July 2017 whose attempt is to create a society that embraces and includes persons with intellectual and development disabilities and grant them the basic human rights that they rightly deserve.

Inclusive India Initiative - National Trust is a social cause whose time has come. With partners like We MediaWorks, Plowns, Stones2Milestones, RedFM India, The Social Street, MyCity4Kids, Coach Ravinder,YouTooCanRun Races and the support of agencies such as Accessible India, The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Skill India, Press Information Bureau India, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment plus the dedicated efforts of thousands of volunteers.
