“Loved your story, brought tears to my eyes…”
Amish Tripathi on Sutapa’s winning story in Write India

Stunning, svelte, smart Ipshita is a globetrotter. She treks across the world to gather bytes for the travel chats she designs and hosts for TV channels. Despite being a self assured and sophisticated entrepreneur, Ipshita is haunted by a nameless fear. Social interaction with men unleashes psychotic turmoil inside her, making her wary of male attentions. Yet, the cold and aloof Ips is inexorably drawn to the three men she meets at different points in her journey.

Her arousal to the overtures of these men catches her unawares. Well-built defenses break as her dormant sexuality go into overdrive until she discovers the horrifying truth about them…and herself.

Life puzzles.  Secrets tumble out. Will she be able to reclaim her life or let it dangle.

“Beautiful Ipshita, a television film-maker, enjoys public acclaim.  So why does she hear disembodied voices?  Why does the attractive Amar Seth appear and disappear without explanation?  Sutapa Basu’s simple narrative style in delivering the twists and turns of a fast-moving plot is well-suited for conveying the protagonist’s pain and confusion right till the very end when questions are asked and solutions are found.”

Author of Maya, The Coiled Serpent, and The River turned Red.

“Sutapa Basu weaves an enthralling tale of a woman battling her demons and trying to make sense of life’s strange coincidences. Does love finally catch up with her? Her chaotic internal journey corresponds to a delightful external one, as the author takes us on fascinating tours in India and abroad!”

“Engaging, riveting and eerily intriguing, Dangle narrates a tale that is unconventional to say the least and takes you to places in India that you have only heard of. A travelogue with a beautiful love story in the middle of it, the author uses personal anecdotes and experiences to make the story very real. From the first page to the last one, the book is absolutely unputdownable.”

"Dangle by Sutapa Basu leaves you thinking about a lot of things that are right and wrong. The book is very aptly titled ‘Dangle’ as it takes you on a journey of the mind, where our deepest fears lurk yet at the same time our hope arises."

"The book is as much about the way we travel and also the way our mind travels into the unknown. Dangle is the right choice if you believe that life is so much like living within cubicle within cubicle within cubicle of the self and that what imprisons you is your own mind… because Ipshita is just that."

"The very title ‘Dangle’ is, in itself, a bit of a dangle. The talented Sutapa Basu knows exactly what she is doing when she writes a tale that leaves her readers dangling in curiosity, in bewilderment, in excitement and finally, in realization."
