Think about a bustling bazaar along the historic Silk Route dated around 120 BCE with gold, pashminas, intricate expensive pieces of art, smell of rich spices from India, delicate porcelain from China, mindblowing fragrance from Middle East, myriad of colors reflecting through rare crystals from Italy, people laughing, kids playing, mothers shopping, fathers selling goods. Culture, religion, education, food, music being exchanged in a city with magnificent alleys and marvelous architecture. Yes I am talking about a city called Aleppo. It makes me sick to write even a word about what’s happening there right now as you read this status. Is it progress? Is this where we land up after years & years of civilization? Not just Aleppo, many cities along the historic Silk Route which used to be major hub for culture, trade and education are vanishing from world map. This is sad. Real sad. We are losing stories to tell our grand kids, we are losing pages of history.
