I am blessed with a seven year old daughter studying in class three.

She is away on a month long vacation having a whale of a time. With her grandparents to fuss over and pamper her, what more could she ask for? Visiting them has been a practice since she was one and a half, though this was the first time she went all by herself. My parents live in Nakonphanom , a small picturesque town by the river Mekong in north east Thailand, an ideal holiday destination.

Strange as it may seem, every time my daughter has been away, there has been a new development or change in me, mostly a lasting one. This time too there has been one but lasting or not, only time will tell. The first time she went six years ago, I started relishing non-vegetarian food though I had been a strict vegetarian for preceding twelve long years. My sudden change of taste was welcomed by my delighted husband who left to himself, will try out anything that crawls.(Don’t be alarmed, babies are an exception!). Now about the latest change. I have all of a sudden, in fact overnight, decided to become a poet! Past few days, I have been writing whenever I find time in the course of changing nappies, feeding, and cradling my four month old son. So, not only did my dear first born bring out my poetic skills in her absence, but has also inspired me to write the very first one on her!!!!! Here it goes..............

A sweet angel came one November,
That day so vividly I remember.
It was love at first sight for sure
Bundle of joy, so exquisite and pure.

Each passing day she brings happiness and fear,
Through her angelic smile and precious tear
Although she angers and upsets me,
She's still special, and will always be.

Oh! my daughter, I love you so,

I'm there for you, this you must know.
