The night was balmy, and all the news channels were covering Viraat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's wedding. They even named them Virushka. From Anushka's bridal slow walk, to Viraat's hint of a smile, they covered it all. With herr eyes glued to the screen, she sighed, 'Haye! They are so romantic just like we were when we got married'. I quickly turned my back and feigned sleep. She came close to me, snuggled and bit my ears.

'So gaye kya?' she asked.

'Kya baat hai...mushi-mushi' I looked at her.

'Now someone has to do mushi-mushi. You are not romantic anymore' she complained.

I kissed her forehead, and nature took over. Next morning, I woke up early but had no intention to go to the office. I wanted to enjoy the day with her. Her mornings were hectic, with one leg in the kitchen and other in the bedroom. She moved around the whole house like a lattoo. She gave directions to the maid, talked to the driver over the phone and yelled at our son to get ready for school. After dropping our son at school, she was amazed to see me still sitting on the couch with the newspaper.

'Sirjee! Office nahi jana?' she took the news paper from my hand.

'Aaj leave ley liya hai' I stretched and winked at her.

'Kis khushi mey?' She casually folded the newspaper and kept it on the centre table.

'Nothing! To see your romantic side,' I pulled her towards me and said.

'Romantic-womantic kuch nahi...part-timer is on holiday. I need to work.' she walked towards to balcony to get the duster.

'Yaar! One day if you don’t do your mopping and dusting toh kuch nahi hoga' I snatched the duster from her hand and wrapped my arms around her waist.

But she pulled herself free from me, picked up the duster and went ahead with her dusting routine. She took full two hours to complete the household chores. When she was going for a bath, I hurried towards her with a towel.

'May I join you?' I winked at her.

'Please...jab dekho yeh soojta hai! I have to go the school to pick up Sunny' She shut the door in my face.

Until yesterday, I was not romantic at all but today was different. However, I suppressed my disappointment and switched on the TV.

'TV! Again! Come on' She stood in front of the TV.

'Toh kya karu? If I come near you, you have a problem. If I watch TV you have a problem' I threw up my hands in the air.

'There's so much work, help me some. Get ready and pick Sunny from the school' she switched off the TV.

I brought my son home and she asked the maid to serve me lunch and made our little 3-year-old eat too. She didn’t even serve lunch to me. I was getting jealous of my little one. He gets all the attention, all the love and what about me? After our baby slept, she talked with her mom for almost an hour. And the miserable part was when she handed me the phone to speak as well. Come on man! From 8am in the morning to 4pm now, she didn’t even allow me one kiss.

I got up from the bed and looked for her. She was preparing supper, now. God! since morning I am seeing her talking to the maid. I dressed up and stood at the kitchen door.

'Sweetheart lets go out for a coffee. She will take care of Sunny' I barged into the conversation and smiled. The maid gave me a dirty look as if I did something utterly wrong to her.

'No! I have to prepare for dinner' She pointed at the maid to cut onions little smaller, 'Bhaiya, ko onions bareek pasand hain' and smiled at me.

'I am making your favourite, Kadhi.' She showed me the chick-pea flour mixed with curd. She's worried about the size of onions which I don't even bother with, but she's not able to see a 6 feet tall man all dressed up and wanting to be with her.

'Okay. Let's go out for a movie and dinner tonight' I took the ladle from her hand and handed it over to the maid.

'Why! What’s the occasion?' She stopped me.

'Occasion? As in?' I was baffled.

'Waise toh you don’t have time, and today you want to take me out for movie and dinner.'

'But I am doing it for you. I took a day off to take you out.' I turned off the stove.

'Did I ask you to take a day off for me?' she raised her eyebrows and asked me.

'What do you mean by that? I took a day off for you so that we both can enjoy. But you're too busy cleaning and cooking…ek din nahi karogi toh kuch hojayega' I was getting annoyed.

She left her work and went inside the bedroom. She changed her dress and asked the maid to take care of Sunny and feed him Khichdi. I was somewhat shocked but to avoid a fight I followed her, and we both went out.

'Where do you want to go?' I knew I would not get a straight answer, but still, I asked

'Wherever you want.' She tuned into the radio.

Without asking much, I straight away took her to her favourite shopping mall. Without asking me anything, she entered Big Bazaar.

'Yaha kyu? Coffee pite hai' I got puzzled and took the basket from her hand.

'Want to buy some essential grocery item.' She snatched the basket from my hand.

She picked up eight items in one hour and wasted thirty minutes standing in the queue. I stood in a corner and was playing Candy Crush. Thank God for Candy Crush!

'Cant you help me in shopping? Playing Candy Crush!' She dropped the shopping bags right near my feet.

I kept the phone in my pocket, picked up the shopping bags and again asked for a cup of coffee. We both sat in a coffee shop, and I ordered for her. She was not looking at me, and I knew what I had to do.

'Sorry' I held her hand in mine and said.

Why did I say sorry? The sorry word itself is bad. She started crying right in the coffee shop and ranted till we finished our coffee. I said nothing, and after a while, I heard nothing. I just paid the bill, picked up the stuff and went to the parking area.

While driving, I thought,  I never ranted about how my boss knocked the hell out of me. I never complained that I sacrificed my football match or cricket match for her stupid shopping or Saas-bahu serial. We reached home. She hugged the baby as if she met him after a month. I asked the maid to serve dinner, and which was khichdi and dahi as the maid was new, and she didn’t know how to cook vegetables. No food, no sex, no movie. 'Isse acha toh mai office mai tha.' I poured the entire curd on hot khichdi and dug in with all my fingers.

'Issh! Please, take a spoon' she gave me a spoon, but I continued eating. After dinner, I watched TV till the whole house was completely silent.

Assuming, she slept, I lied down. She came close to me and said

'Sorry' She put an arm on my chest and caressed me.

'It's okay.' I rubbed her hand and said.

She kissed me, but I didn’t show any interest. I turned my back and was trying to sleep. She came close to me again and kissed my shoulders and asked, 'So gaye kya?'

'Nahi fresh hu...jag raha hu bolo' I snapped.

'Tumhe kya hogaya hai...you are not at all romantic.' She hit me lightly with her fist.

'Baby! you are so romantic that I fail to keep up.' I turned towards her, kissed her forehead, and then...nature took over.
