In a little white house, in a wild garden by the sea, surrounded by books and my dragons, I try to pin down the million stories zipping through my mind, clamouring to be told!
I write MG and YA under the pen-name 'Maya Spark' and adult works as 'Mamathi Chari'.
Meet Zoe, Scruffy and their scrappy friends - the heroes of the first of such stories. I know for sure they will thrill you as they draw into their world of adventure and mystery.
If I must say more about me, then, here goes:
I have done diverse things in life, thankfully, well. I am a pioneer and luckily a much-loved show host in Tamil, Indian satellite television. I am also a celebrity RJ and actor. I am, by fortune 's clemency, especially renowned and celebrated for the purity of my Tamil and English. While unending curiosity has ensured I am multi-lingual, I have done my Masters in English. I do not remember a time when I was not writing passionately or reading eclectically - from Asterix to Pope to Kalidasa.
I am a little old-school in that I write every work entirely by hand and then type them in on my laptop, at which time my edits happen. I am a multi-genre writer - from MG children’s titles, to YA fantasy, to adult fiction and non-fiction – literary and non-literary.
My bilingual in parallel work Kural Mudhal, is a philosophical exploration of the oneness of human thought through the comparative analysis of the ancient Tamil work Thirukkural, with ancient and contemporary thoughts worldwide, unlimited by their language, medium, time and geography. Currently being curated on YouTube (link in the website field), I plan to release the written document soon.
I have founded two successful companies, one in media content and the other in real estate. I was also the director and head copywriter for an advertising agency.
I am actively passionate about animal rescue and welfare, safeguarding children from abuse, working against domestic violence and emergency medical aid among my many other causes. An avid sportsperson, I shoot and sail. I also run marathons to support awareness initiatives, paint oils, embroider and sing. Currently, I am trying to break the mysteries of IT by learning coding and am also exploring the world of film sub-titling.
