The Magic of Crochet Dolls

A man and a woman had been married for more than 60 years. They have shared everything and had kept no secrets between them, except for a little shoebox which the wife had hidden in the closet and she had warned her husband never to open or ask her what was in it.

Through the years, he had forgotten about the box, until one day the old woman was very sick and the doctor said she may not survive. In trying to sort out things, the old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife’s bedside. She agreed that now was the time to open the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling around $95,000.He asked her about the contents.

She replied. “when we were to be married my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was never to argue and that if I ever got angry with you, I should keep quiet and crochet a doll.

The old man was moved and started crying. Only two precious dolls were in the box. He thought she had only been angry with me twice in all those years of living and loving. He burst out laughing with happiness.

Honey, he said,” that explains the dolls but what about all this money? Where did it come from?

She replied smiling, “That’s the money I made from selling the dolls”
