Author Overview
Sunita Singh was born and brought up in Allahabad and received her education from St. Mary's Convent and later from the Allahabad University. She believes that the Ganga - Jamuni 'tehzeeb' of her city and exposure to various art events developed in her the love for the arts. It helped her to be conversant with both - English and Hindi languages and literature. She is a bi-lingual poet, writer and storyteller. Her verses and stories are dipped in the ink of her heart and the fact that they are well- accepted is incidental. Her poems feature in many Indian and International anthologies and e-magazines, like Glomag, Spillwords, Best Poetry Online, Destiny Poets UK, Fasihi and others. Many of her poems have also won awards on on-line forums like Kaafiya, Poetry Planet, On Fire, The Significant League and others. Her stories have been shortlisted in Wordweavers India and also published in magazines and anthologies. A few of her Hindi poems have been turned into lyrics for private albums. She is an active member of a forum for reviving Indian languages and has done dramatized readings of the stories and poems of many famous writers like Premchand, Rabindranath Tagore, Saadat Hasan Manto, Faiz Ahmed Faiz and others on various public functions and events. She also hosts online storytelling sessions. She has served as one of the editors of a women's magazine and also the Roseate Sonnet Anthology. Her solo book of poems, 'Dance of the Flamingoes', was published in 2020 and has been awarded the best debut collection by Autism for Help Village Project Trust. Sunita lives in Delhi and likes to disconnect from the mad chaos and finds inspiration from nature, whether in the mountains, the beach or even the quiet corners of a park.
