Readomania announces another book with Dr. Tripti Sharan—Devi Sutras: Immortal Tales Timeless Journeys.

Dr. Sharan says, 'The beauty of our epics is that they are very contemporary. The author in me wanted our protagonists to come alive in the modern context. Would their stories be any different? Would these powerful women fight their destiny, this time? I wanted to see them rise to challenges, I wanted them to come together and tell us their riveting story, once again.'

The book narrates stories of four modern women, but their tales are eternal. Sita, Parvati, Ahalya and Radha have fought extraordinary battles to live ordinary lives. One day they meet over lunch and decide to bare their souls to each other. What unfolds is their intriguing journey, their tryst with destiny. The secret longings, their unfulfilled cravings, the joys and pain, their loss and what they eventually gained. It’s their perspective, it’s their voice. A woman’s struggle is timeless and endless. They may change names, wear different garbs but the context remains the same. Each of them is a revelation and a celebration of a power that can be dented but never broken, a power that comes from being a woman!

Dr Tripti Sharan is a doctor by profession. At other times she is a reader, writer, thinker, and a dreamer. She is one of the most promising voices in the arena of contemporary English literature. With her dual role of a doctor-author and her distinctive style of writing in both prose and poetry, she occupies a significant place in the hearts of avid readers and literary enthusiasts.

Writing for her is like a journey into the self. As she paints the canvas of life with the colors of myriad emotions, she uncovers a little more of the truth that is hidden in their realms.
Her literary avatar started with ‘Dewdrops…a journey begins’, a collection of poems which was adjudged the best anthology in English poetry (2015) by ‘Aagman’ literary group. In her first book as an author, ‘Chronicles of a Gynaecologist’(2016) and the subsequent ones ‘House of
Doctors, the inside story of a medical school’ (2018), she tries to familiarize people with the truths that breathe behind the closed sanitized walls of a hospital and all that goes behind making of a doctor in a medical college. Both were autobiographical based on real life stories.

Her recent book ‘Anecdotes & Antidotes (2022)’ once again anecdotal, gives insights about the adventurous and intriguing life she leads. In her stories breathes not only the compassionate doctor, but also the impatient wife, the exasperated mother, the tolerant lover, and a rueful citizen. There is humour and sarcasm, there is conviction and scepticism.

She has always been fascinated by mythology. It brings meaning into her life as she moves from a real sketchy world to a clear metaphysical world. Rich with metaphors, they force her to move beyond the obvious and acknowledge the ambiguous. Her book, ‘Being Radha, beyond her Love & His Leela’ (2019) is contemporary rendition of the tale of the timeless Radha, a much revered yet seldom understood goddess.

Apart from writing for TheBetterIndia and everylifecounts.ndtv.com where she tries to showcase the myriad issues that plague women, she is also a blogger with webzines, and contributes to anthologies and publications. She recently came up with a volume of poems in her book ’Shadows of a fading twilight’ (2017) and is working on an interesting plot for her next book. She was adjudged APJ Abdul Kalam’s appreciation award by the Delhi gynae forum, conferred ‘Woman of Inspiration, 2020’ by her own institute, ‘Wonder FOGSIAN 2019’, and also ‘Global Youth Icon Award 2018’ by Writers Capital Foundation for her work in literature and in serving humanity. She was also adjudged as ‘The most inspiring Gynaecologist in North India’ 2018 by Economic Times.
