An Angel in the Rain

It was the season of late autumn. Maria walked down the street, raining heavily, but she kept walking with the umbrella that was barely protecting her. There were tears in her eyes.
Maria is a very kind, soft-hearted woman with a lot of empathy. She was married to John who worked in a factory. Both loved each other but there were often quarrels between the two. They were not the so-called ‘happily married couple’. They had everything but a child. 4 years of their marriage but they were still childless and they desperately wanted one. On that particular day, they had a quarrel on the topic of adoption. Maria was against adoption. She ended up losing her temper and leaving the house, out in the rain. She walked down the street and found a little girl laying at one corner of the street sleeping in the rain with torn clothes. As Maria’s glance fell upon the girl, her heart melted. She approached close to the girl and noticed that the girl looked beautiful but someone had abandoned her in the rain. She could not bear the girl’s helpless situation and carried her in her arms back home. As she entered, John tried to help Maria. Maria bathed the girl, dried her, and gave her some soup to drink. As Maria was switching off the light she heard a strange whisper. It was the word ‘Mom’. On hearing this heart exulted. She felt as if the whole multiverse was blessing her from above. She had never felt something like this in her entire life.
It was at this moment when she turned to John and said “We have a daughter “.The little girl had bought joy and happiness to the couple that lasted forever.
