This is a story about a sweet and lovely couple, a story about a single soul inhabiting two bodies, the story about a yet another "Romeo and Juliet".

Karan, a 26 year old, handsome young man, was a software developer at Sun Microsystems. Being a part of one of the largest IT Companies of the world, undoubtedly he was living his life King-Size. He had all that anyone would desire for.

But his actual happiness was something else, rather someone else - a beautiful lady.
She was Kavya, his angel, his mother, his father, his brother, and everything else except his sister.

Well, jokes apart.
Now, let me unveil a really harsh truth of Karan's life, the reality behind his smiles, the pain stuffed deep inside in a corner of his heart. He had lost his entire family in an air-crash, while they were returning from Australia after attending a family function. Karan was 15 then. He was all alone, vulnerable to all the evil entities of this hellish world. A crash had almost ruined and destroyed his life.

I used the word "almost" in my previous sentence purposely.

There is a silver lining around every dark cloud. Similarly, in Karan's case it was Kavya, who came down from some place unknown, some world undiscovered, like an Angel and held his hand and helped him gather the broken pieces of his heart together and chase his dreams once again.

She was his neighbour and also his junior. The biggest secret was she loved him dearly, and Karan was unaware of all this.
Kavya seeked help from her parents and convinced them to lend a helping hand to him. They didn't deny, they couldn't, as they knew Kavya loved him and the most important thing was Karan had topped the 10th ICSE examinations that year breaking all the previous state records. He got many scholarships owing to this Herculean achievement of his and so it wasn't that difficult for him to meet his educational expenditures.

As expected, he did brilliantly well in all the exams he faced and his career was quite smooth which made him get a job in Sun Microsystems soon after his undergraduation from NIT.

I told you about his career but there was something else that had happened to him in this span of 11 years.

I know that you must have guessed the answer by this time.

Yeah, he was in LOVE with Kavya, a true, unconditional, selfless love. Kavya had been with him since the day he lost his family and supported him through every thick and thin.
That pain inside his heart had surprisingly vanished. It's quite obvious, as his heart was no more with him.
One of the leading Software Engineer's heart had been hacked by a 24 year old, pretty, criminal lawyer.

They were finally engaged.
They couldn't be happier.
The marriage date was fixed on 6th of April, which also happened to be Kavya's birthday. This was just a mere coincidence.

Finally the eve of their marriage arrived. Their happiness was overflowing, they could sense that excitement filling the air surrounding them, they could feel each other's heart pacing up as if getting ready to race with time, compelling the hands of the clock to move faster.
They were impatient, they couldn't sleep.

Kavya tried to grab some sleep as she didn't want her dark circles to appear around her eyes. Her sleep was snatched away soon enough.

It was Karan, as impatient as her, or even more.

He asked her out for a walk, as he was unable to sleep and secondly he wanted to spend some time with her as her boyfriend for the last time.

Kavya couldn't deny him, she never had before as well. She dressed up as quickly as possible and sneaked out of the house without anyone's knowledge. It was 12:30 at night, and there were only dogs guarding the streets of Powai, with no signs of any human activity.
Luckily they found a small shop, where they had some Vadapao, sipped few cups of tea out of excitement, and were then ready to go back. They started retracing their path towards their homes.

Just then a Van took a halt infront of them and four huge armed men walked out of it and surrounded them out of nowhere. They were puzzled and shocked and couldn't figure out how to react. One of them grabbed Karan by his collar and knocked him down and turned to Kavya pointing his Pistol at her.

Another one said, pointing his Gun at her,
"Lawyer madam, you put our boss in jail. Now it's time to give you your reward".

The other one interfered, "Lets not kill her bhaijaan. It's no use. Better to kill her boyfriend and let her live with that wound forever".

Karan tried to fight back but he couldn't do much. He was outnumbered.
Just then one of them pulled the trigger. The bullet, that had the fate of two souls written on it, pierced through Karan's chest bringing his heart to a halt. Kavya could sense his heartbeat fading away gradually. She ran to him and crushed him in her embrace. She was drenched with his blood and her tears.

Her dreams were shattered in a moment, her love was lying wounded in her arms and she was unable to do anything except cry for help. But there was no one around.
Her Love, Her life had left her, her heart refused to breathe, her senses denied to function.
She lost her consciousness soon.

What happened after that?

When she regained her senses, she found herself on her bed.
It was still dark outside and the clock read 5:30 in the morning. She started weeping again and ran out of her room to inquire about Karan.
No sooner had she opened the door, than she collided with a familiar figure.

Can you guess who that was?

It was Karan, standing infront of her and staring at her with blood red eyes.

She was scared.
She trembled and moved back.

He said,
"What's the matter baby? Why are you scared?
I couldn't sleep the entire night.
Are you happy my jaan?"

Kavya was still in a bewildered state.
She ran to him and opened his shirt to see his injuries.
But there were none, surprisingly.

It took her several minutes to realise that it was just a bad dream

She hugged him as tight as her arms allowed her to and started weeping placing her head over his shoulders.

The dream might have been an unpleasant one but that brought them closer, so close that I can say,

"THEY WEREN'T ADDICTED TO LOVE, RATHER LOVE WAS ADDICTED TO THEM"
