As I sit before my unfinished Story,

I become keen to find its ending.

There are days when I can’t wait to get back to it,

But, then there are days, I totally ignore it.

I realize too much importance we have given to tomorrow,

What if! Tomorrow never comes?

What will happen to my Parth and Nandini, I wonder,

But then they are just two fictitious characters I sketched.

There are several other things to ponder.

My unfulfilled dreams,

What about perfecting to drive a car?

Something I had dog eared for 2021.

How about that new shade of lip color I bought last year?

Could not wear it even once, during Corona year.

How about that new handbag, my sister gave me on my birthday?

I have had nowhere to take it last year.

How about that new hair straightener I bought last year?

My hair was forever in a bun, the whole year.

How about that new red sweater I bought?

I sailed this winter with just a 3 or 4.

How about the lessons, still not shared with my Son?

He is too impatient to listen to me all at once.

How about the trip I always dreamt of with my Sister?

We could barely even meet this last year.

How about taking a nice vacation with my husband and Son?

We could not wait to be out of each other’s sight this last year.

Umm, lots of unfinished business, I can see here,

Things I need to accomplish this year.

Drive around, wearing my red sweater,

Showing off my beautiful lip colour,

With my dainty looking handbag in the backseat.

Talking nonstop with my Son,

Filling him up with lots of stories and memories to behold.

Taking that long-awaited vacation all by myself with my best friend, my sister.

After which I can plan a short break, to see the unseen,

With my husband and Son.

And yes!!!

Beyond doubt…

Sit down to find my Story’s ending,

Both fictional and Non-fictional ones.

So what if tomorrow never comes,

I have something even more precious, which is Today.
