My Father's Love for Me

The older I got, the more I knew

the joy it was to be with you.

You're always there

To lend an ear

You often taught me what is right and

What is wrong. 

You moulded me to be generous and kind. 

You prepared me for the life ahead and to be strong. 

At times I thought that you were

far too hard on me... 

But dad, 

You always make me feel protected;

I'm sheltered by your care.

It seems like only yesterday,

You wiped away my tears,

And late at night I called your name,

To chase away my fears.

You mean so much to me.

The laughter we have shared,

cannot be compared.

If sometimes I'm neglectful,

You always understand

You’ve been a part of me

Right from the start. 

You'll always be the king of my heart

because you were my love from the very first start.
