"This is your girl", said the doctor
All the faces around
Together drooped down
For a girl was born to a mother.

They took her home luckily
The occasion was not great
They did not celebrate
She was left on the bed lonely.

Days passed and so the years
She kept growing like a tiny bud
Among those souls of cold blood
Who cared neither for her smile nor the tears

She grew up fragile and frail
Her schooling stopped, her studies abandoned
Captive in home she just wandered
All she had was God to hail.

The insult she faced each passing day
The blood that poured when she was beaten away
The scars reminded of her only mistake
She was a girl and her life was at stake.

Locked in her room, she never went out
People are good too, she always had a doubt
She used to tremble when a stranger she'd see

For another 'NIRBHAYA' she never wanted to be.

Soon married to some other house
Where she was a servant merely
And did her duties quietly
Yet tortured and oppressed by the spouse.

She suffered and took all the pain
Then one fine day
She changed her way
And stood to prove that she's not a bane.

She broke all the barriers
Kept fighting like a warrior
She shed her blood for the sake of others
To encourage other girls to become stronger.

She lost her life but left an instance
Persuading the other girls to take their chance
To fight for equality in the era of discrimination
And protect themselves from abuse and humiliation.

A girl is a beautiful creation of God
Disgrace her and you disgrace your Lord
With utmost charm she is festooned
She is never a curse and always a boon.
