Like every other day-

He was in haste-

He barely had a second-

To glance at her!

Into her eyes…

And at her pale face…

She stood still-

And he left…

(the door banged and,

Silence scattered everywhere!)

She rushed out-

To catch his glimpse…

She- on the other side….

Of that tarnished fence…

And yelled his name…

His name echoed far and wide!

With no retort this time!

And the ambiance-

Hushed again!

Mist covered her eyes…

And she watched above…

To wipe them off!

Sky as plain as crystals!

And a few tiny trinkets in them-

Started twinkling bright…

She stared down on the lane-

The silhouette of him-

As fading as her hope…

Vanished after that street lamp!

She wanted him-

To glance at her…

And into her eyes…

And of course, at her pale face!

The breeze stole-

The fragrance of that dusk-

And in return-

Brought the faith…

Of a distant chanter…

From the mosque…

She could see each part-

Of the horizon,

She was in.

Beside the hills-

The remnant of sunset-

Stood vivid...

She gazed at the sky, again…

And she wished,

If he would return-

She would ask-

“What if I will die,

Will you remember me?”

Indifferent,

He might be-

His heart, she had no clue-

His eyes would say-

“To remember,

 I should forget…”

And she will stand-

As still as she was before!

In the same hushed ambiance!

Searching for the fathom-

In his words!

She went inside to that bivouac!

That sadness engrossed in her eyes!

And that breeze was

Still-

Bringing in the hymns…

Of those lost faiths!
