My tender steps towards sasural from mayka were heavy to lift and difficult to put forward. Today I sit back and feel proud of all that I have achieved and walked over with my head held high resolving every issue and enjoying every moment !!!!yes I proudly set an example of transition from a hardly working timid girl to a hard working bold fauji wife.

The first day at my new home was filled with nervousness, fear and anxiety. The house was full with relatives and neighbours who had come to see the new bride. I was quite uncomfortable with the heavy lehnga and jewellery. My mom in law, sensing my discomfort asked me to change into a comfortable salwar kameez, much to the charagin of the relatives. This made my heart filled with respect for her.

After the rituals were over I was asked to go and take rest as it had been a long day and was also told to get up late the next day.

I was really apprehensive as to how I would cope up in my marital home where everyone was a stranger. But my fears were unfounded as my sisters in law were there to help me with everything.

For a girl, her maiden home is where she learns the basic education and learning to cook and mastering other house hold skills. But I was far from those required skills and my in laws knew that. Acceptance is a very small word but for me it’s not just a word but has a beautiful connotation as I was accepted at my in laws house with open arms, lots of love and loads of patience.

The day I was supposed to leave my sasural and go to Vishakapatnam where my husband was posted, I resolved to carry out all my responsibilities which my mother in law had lovingly entrusted on me, with utmost sincerity.

 Today when I recall those moments which has carved a beautiful past, awesome present and a lovely future, I feel blessed to be a part of this beautiful family.
