Just when I thought I had conquered you,

You seeped in my mind, and body too.

You always 'sleep' me off my feet,

Drowning me in the abyss, where no ends meet.

You don't let me study. Or work.

Every time I sit with a purpose, you lurk!

Oh, sleep, I could do off with your spell,

But you are precious to me, anyone can tell.

You are a curse, you are a boon.

You come with an anchor, and that's the moon!

People get lost in your abysmal chasms,

You soothe their qualms, and their spasms.

You are like a drug, irresistible.

Yet you induce losses, thus, detestable.

Your temerity engulfs me wholly,

It constricts and frees me solely.

I'm a puppet under your mystical fingers,

So strong your effect is, it lingers.

Oh, I wish to vanquish your temptation.

How to do that is the general consternation.

Yet, I get up every prosaic morning, for school,

Alas! Defying the command and your cogent rule!
