Sare jahan se acha, yeh desh hai pyara,
We are proud of this country, yeh hai Hindustan hamara
India is a parliamentary democracy,
Appreciated even by the world’s supremacy,
A country of billion people,
A melting pot of hundreds of spoken languages,
Many religions, many cultures, where freedom is given
A country that was the cradle of civilization
Leading in technology, industry and agriculture, a power amongst equals,
With Noble Laureates and Space endeavours, that has many successful sequels
Sare jahan se acha, yeh desh hai pyara,
We are proud of this country, yeh hai Hindustan hamara
A country where people’s verdict through elections is the main stay
Thinking takes a back seat when it comes to voting for people in the fray
The poor and illiterate are soft targets to allure
Under the yoke of hardship they believe the gloss around the empty assure
The literate and elite disgusted with current matters
Shun their vote or use it for selfish gains, caring less for larger factors
The fear of tyranny, revenge, financial hardship make people surrender
Unintended, they become a party to corruption breeders
Every five years of governance, aam aadmi experiences failing of promises,
Witnessing the filling of coffers of favoured offices
When India became independent, people celebrated
And initiated a journey to create a land as the constitution indicated
But with it came evils of greed, wealth and power
The elected gradually turned self-centred
Successive Governments never delivered
Aam aadmi was in silence and just suffered
To win an election became a profession
Muscle power came to play and tainted individuals enjoyed patronage
Coalition rules changed the game, ministries became objects of trade
Time has come for us to change,
To use our vote and choose the worthy brain
A righteous, selfless, performing candidate with values deeply engrained
It is time for us to say again,
Sare jahan se acha, phir hoga desh hamara,
Hame naaz hai aye watan, pyara Hindustan hamara
