A Haunting New Mystery: The Woods Remember
Some stories refuse to stay silent. Some souls cannot move on…until they are heard.
With her atmospheric new novel The Woods Remember, author Mamta Sharma delivers a chilling, emotionally rich mystery that blurs the line between dreams and reality, past and present, memory and fate.

Set against the contrasting worlds of modern-day Mumbai and a decaying colonial estate hidden in the woods in the outskirts of the city, the novel follows Rini Thakur, a 34-year-old widow haunted by a recurring dream she cannot explain. Night after night, Rini wanders through shadowed forests in search of someone she has never met—someone whose name she does not even know. What begins as a private nightmare soon begins to intrude into her waking life when a routine work trip takes her to a colonial property on the city’s outskirts.
There, Rini encounters a family frozen in grief—Samuel, Sophie, and their daughter Stella—whose world shattered when their younger daughter Sarah vanished 34 years ago. As Rini begins to uncover the truth behind the cold case, she realizes that her dreams may be guiding her towards a secret that has been waiting decades to be heard.
At its heart, The Woods Remember is not just a supernatural mystery; it is a deeply emotional story about loss, memory, and unfinished lives. Mamta Sharma weaves together psychological suspense and gothic atmosphere, creating a narrative where grief echoes through generations and the past refuses to remain buried.
With its unique blend of urban realism and haunting folklore, The Woods Remember promises to resonate with readers who love slow-burn thrillers, emotionally driven mysteries, and stories where the unseen world quietly shapes the living.
This is a novel that lingers long after the final page—an invitation to step into the woods, listen closely, and discover the truth waiting in the shadows.
