The Perfect Life Is Just the Beginning
Some lives look perfect from the outside. The right career. The right address. The right people. But what if perfection is only the beginning of the story?
Meet Mahek—a successful fragrance specialist in South Delhi whose days are filled with designer scents, elite clients, and glamorous evenings. She has built a life that seems flawless, until an unpaid bill takes her to the rain-soaked town of Wai, where everything she thought she wanted begins to change.

There, she meets Dalbeer, a retired army captain whose quiet presence and unwavering kindness challenge everything she believes about love, happiness, and home. Together, they create an Airbnb that welcomes travellers from all walks of life, each carrying stories that reveal the hidden cracks beneath seemingly perfect lives. As Mahek becomes entwined in their journeys, she begins to question her own.
And then, Dalbeer disappears.
Heartwarming, poignant, and deeply uplifting, The Problem with Perfect Lives by Amrita Anand Nayak is a story about unexpected love, second chances, and the courage to choose what truly matters. It reminds us that life rarely unfolds according to plan—and that sometimes the most extraordinary chapters begin when everything we thought was certain falls apart.

About the Author
Amrita Anand Nayak is an IT professional, a mother of two, and a writer with two published books under her belt. She works for a leading international bank in their technology division, in Pune, a city she loves!
After completing her engineering studies from Delhi in 2003, she moved to Pune for her first job as a Software Engineer, and she hasn’t looked back since then. She is a proud Delhiite-turned-Punekar. It was in Pune that she met her soulmate, got married, became a mom, and also got published. While she adores her kids and loves to spend her free time colouring with her younger one and playing chess with her older one, she also loves to read and weave stories, with a steaming cup of java, whenever she finds time. Multi-tasker is her middle name now, though she does keep dropping a ball or two in this juggling act now and then. But being a true believer in Wabi-sabi—the Japanese concept of finding beauty in imperfection—she thinks these dopped balls keep life real, challenging and fun!
