Readomania is excited to announce the acquisition of the worldwide publishing rights to Rupande Mehta’s work of mythological fiction based on Draupadi's life after the Kurukshetra war. The book is expected to hit the stores in December 2021.

Born in India, Rupande immigrated to the US in 2002 for her Master’s. Currently, she is a professional working for a Fortune 500 company and an activist for causes related to violence against women, the environment, and social justice. In 2020, Rupande ran for state-level office receiving the most votes ever received by a Democrat for that seat. Trihayani is Rupande’s first novel. She lives in New Jersey with her husband and daughter.

Mehta says, 'The conventional narrative depicts Draupadi as a hapless woman, totally dependent on her husbands thirsty for her revenge. But ask yourself this: could a woman married to the greatest warriors of all time just be an ordinary queen? Who was the real Draupadi and what injustices have our traditional versions meted out in their depiction of this great queen?'

This book starts after the Great War ends, and Emperor Yudhishthira has been ruling peacefully for thirty-six years. But all is not well for Draupadi who is still craving to be free from the terrible anguish and pain that has been plaguing her for many lifetimes.

Trihayani begins where all the other stories end. It is the story of Draupadi’s search for her truth, the nature of humanity, and the interconnectedness of things. Trihayani is the story of redemption and ultimately the salvation of one of mythology’s greatest characters: Maharani Draupadi.
