About the Author
Dr. Deepak Mahajan’s professional journey spans continents and decades. After completing his MBBS in Pune (1985) and his MS in General Surgery (1988), he gained experience across Maharashtra—from Mumbai’s iconic KEM Hospital to his own private practice in Pune and the German Missionary Hospital in Srirampur. After the devastating 1993 Latur earthquake, his organization, REACH, delivered surgical and public health services to several ravaged villages, cementing his commitment to rural healthcare.
In 1999, he moved to the United States, completing his Internal Medicine residency at Interfaith Medical Center, New York, followed by a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. Since 2006, he has served the diverse community of Queens, New York, as a respected gastroenterologist—his dedication recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors (2021) and NY Top Docs (2023).
Together with his wife, Sucheta, Dr. Mahajan also established the SV Foundation in 2014. Their philanthropic work includes scholarships for middle-school students, feeding the homeless through the Sikh Cultural Society in Queens, and supporting senior South Asian immigrants at India Home in New York.
